Controlling Florida Mosquitos In Your Yard

Mosquito eggs are laid in standing water and mature to adulthood in about two weeks. So the first thing to do is make sure you don't have any standing water on your property. Drain any buckets, bird baths, or other containers that may collect rainwater. Then check around the foundation of your house and repair any leaks that might be causing water to pool up.

Another important thing is to keep your grass and bushes trimmed so there isn't too much shade around your home—mosquitoes like laying their eggs in shaded areas because they prefer environments where they won't get eaten by birds or other predators right away.

Mosquitos love dark places with little air circulation—so if you live somewhere where those conditions exist, consider installing lights near doorways or windows and installing fans nearby as well.

Regular pest control services are also key to controlling the mosquito population this fall. Your pest control company can identify and notify you about potential mosquito sanctuaries in your yard. They can also treat yards and help control the mosquito population. If you don't have a pest control company or you would like to try our mosquito control services, give us Insect IQ a call at 855-930-2847 (bugs).

Florida Mosquito Reduction

Mosquitos are a huge source of annoyance and stress, but you can get rid of them with a few simple steps.

First, you'll want to make sure that your yard is as mosquito-proof as possible. Mosquitos are most active at dusk and dawn, so make sure you're covering all the bases:

  • Keep your grass cut short
  • Keep your gutters clean
  • Put up screens on doors and windows to keep mosquitoes out of your house
  • Make sure there's no standing water anywhere in your yard (including rainwater)

Mosquito control, reduction, and prevention all start with getting rid of standing water.

 Mosquito Prevention

If you're tired of being bitten and have tried everything from bug spray to citronella candles, you may want to consider calling your local pest control company, Insect IQ. With regular services, we can prevent mosquitos from living in your yard so you can enjoy the outdoors without getting eaten alive!

 What Doesn't Work On Mosquitos

There are so many different ways to deal with mosquitos, and there are a lot of "solutions" that promise to work best for your situation. But some either don't work, or worse attract more mosquitos.

Some items that are not effective for reducing mosquitoes:

  • Mosquito plants
  • Bug zappers
  • Consumption of garlic, vitamin B, and bananas
  • Repellent bracelets and wristbands
  • Ultrasonic devices and cell phone apps
  • Dragonfly mimics

What To Do To Reduce Mosquitos In Your Yard

Call your pest control company and ask to talk to the Entomologist. Insect IQ has two Entomologists on staff to manage identification and investigations. Your typical "bug guy" may not understand the type of mosquito in your yard and how best to manage the problem.

Insect IQ offers free evaluations to help you determine what action (if any) you need to take to control your pest problem. For more information call 855-930-2847 (bugs). Or visit us at insectiq.com/our-services/mosquito-control for more information.
